Player Development
Youth Training Tips
Built for ages 8-14 by our coaching staff. Small daily reps, done right, turn rec players into Majors players.
The Path
From Rec Ball to Majors
Every level has a job. Players move up by mastering what the next level demands - not by birthday. Here are the skills we develop toward at each step of the path.
LEVEL 1
Rec Ball
Play with confidence, not fear
- Throw to a base with a purpose, not just at one
- Field a short hop with soft hands and steady feet
- Swing with balance and finish every swing
- Run through first base and back to the bag on a throw
LEVEL 2
Premier
Turn fundamentals into habits
- Feet first - set the feet before every throw and swing
- Tee and front-toss work with a plan, not just reps
- Game situations: cut-offs, backups, first-to-third leads
- First measured numbers: home-to-first, throw velocity
LEVEL 3
D3 / AA
Compete in every at-bat and every inning
- Pitch recognition: hunt fastballs, lay off the back door
- Two-strike approach: shorten up and protect the plate
- A primary and a secondary position you can trust
- First-step quickness and honest, tough base running
LEVEL 4
D2 / AAA
Separate with strength and baseball IQ
- Bodyweight strength, med-ball work, and jump training
- Exit velocity and bat speed tracked and improved monthly
- Situational defense: know the play before the pitch
- Mental routine: flush the last pitch, attack the next
LEVEL 5
Majors
Carry yourself like a player, not a kid
- Position mastery with showcase-level measurables
- Advanced approach: hitting counts, spraying the ball
- Leadership - set the standard for younger players
- Prepared for high school select ball and beyond
